Hi, I’m Amr Alkhatib.

I build tools that make complicated systems easy to see.

I study Information Engineering at TUM in Heilbronn and come from applied mathematics. I like turning real systems into models, and models into software people can use: cache hierarchies, food-truck fleets, a pitch in front of a jury.

Drag a, b, c and d, or hover the graph, to see how the real roots move. I worked on this family of quintics in 2022 for the Kolmogorov Readings at Moscow State University, where the paper earned a third-degree diploma.

Selected work

One hackathon prize winner and two products that started as real problems brought by companies to the TUM Business Game. Each preview is a live recreation of the app’s main screen. The buttons open the real apps.

Visually

A cache simulator that makes the memory hierarchy visible.

The problem

Students learn hit rates and AMAT as formulas without ever seeing a set fill up or a block get evicted.

What I built

A React simulator for RISC-V cache hierarchies. Tune size, block size, associativity and replacement policy, run a trace or RISC-V assembly, and watch hits, misses, energy and AMAT change step by step.

The hard part

Keeping it exact. Set index, tag and miss type (cold, capacity, conflict) are computed for every access, and a waveform view shows clock, hit and miss signals like a logic analyser.

Team project. I built the React front end and embedded the cache simulation.

TruckOps

Booking and operations software for a corporate food-truck caterer.

The problem

Every event quote meant checking permits town by town, night-time noise rules, crew working hours, road distance and VAT by hand.

What I built

A booking flow that prices the event live, picks the fewest trucks that cover every guest and diet, and explains why a truck can’t come. Behind it, a back office for fleet, yards, pricing, permits and approvals.

The hard part

Turning German rules into code: state holidays, TA Lärm after 22:00, street-use permits, §12 GastG for alcohol, ArbZG rest days, the 7% and 19% VAT split, and OSRM road distances.

Built on a real problem brought by a partner company.

PitchRoom

Pitch rehearsal that tells you what the jury will hear.

The problem

People rehearse pitches alone, so they never hear their own fillers, rushed sections or missing ask.

What I built

Record or upload a take and get a delivery score, a transcript with every filler and hesitation marked, a judge’s card, and a check of problem, solution, market, traction, team and ask, with suggested rewrites.

The hard part

Lining up three signals on one timeline: transcription with speaker separation, voice measurements taken in the browser, and an LLM judge that grades for the audience you choose.

Things I’ve modelled

Most of my work is a model of a real system, the software around one, or both.

Experience

Apr – Sep 2026

Student Assistant

TUM Professorship of Strategic Management, Heilbronn

Built a Python pipeline that extracts and processes executive data for more than 2,000 M&A transactions and computes retention metrics for ongoing research, cutting hours of manual work to minutes. Also ran literature reviews and facilitated seminar sessions.

Feb – May 2025

Mathematical Modelling Supervisor

National Centre for the Distinguished, Homs

Redesigned the training programme for 3 coaches and 28 students preparing for MMT and IM²C. Every student qualified for the national round, and the centre took all 8 of Syria’s international places.

Oct 2022 – Sep 2023

Front-End Web Developer

Xcore Corporation, Swaida

Worked on more than 15 projects and reviewed 5 more in a front-end team of 10. Introduced shared practices that raised the team’s output by 22% in a quarter.
